Yay! I’m alive! And the Templar boys are back too! I had started this page way back in July but was incredibly dissatisfied with it, and only picked it back up after I had exhausted my patience on a bunch of other projects that just didn’t seem to want to be done. Inspiration was, alas, sadly lacking. So, I decided to give this page another go as a way of recharging some artistic motivation. Hopefully, it worked. :XD: I was also rather excited to work on this page for two reasons: 1.) because I just enjoyed drawing them praying and 2.) because we’re FINALLY getting around to stuff happening. On Page 10. Huzzah. I really ought to speed this up. :iconfacepalmplz: Oh yeah, and we also get to see Jacques without his spangenhelm. Hah.

Anyway, back to the boys: Godfrey and Jacques are enjoying a nice quiet evening in the Egyptian desert, doing what Templar monks do best—praying the Liturgia Horarum—right before they’re about to go to bed, and what will hopefully prove to be an uneventful, restful night. Or not. But they don’t know that yet. ;-)

Okay, so I have to geek out about a little something. The Psalm that they are reciting on this page (Psalm 124), was one I came across almost by accident. In the book, Jacques mentions Psalm 121 (which is why I introduced this whole comic-prologue-thingy with it: Page I: "I Lift My Eyes Up to the Hills" ), and so when I came across this Psalm rather providentially, I looked it over and saw that it would be quite perfect for this little scene, and it’s also rather cool because one o the phrases used in Psalm 124 (” Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth.") is also used in Psalm 121.

:iconlaplz:

Okay I know, that was a rather long anecdote but…I thought it was cool… :XD:

"If the Lord had not been on our side--
this is Israel's song--
If the Lord had not been on our side
when men rose against us
then would they have swallowed us up alive
when their anger was kindled.

Then would the waters have engulfed us,
the torrent gone over us;
over our heads would have swept the raging waters.

Blessed be the Lord
who did not give us a prey to their teeth!
Our life, like a bird, has escaped
from the snare of the fowler.

Indeed the snare has been broken,
and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of the Lord
who made heaven and earth."
~Psalm 124

That eye effect is great.

The Latin, too.
