The Awkward Moments in the Life of a Templar

Another quickie scene sketch from the book "Crown of the World" by Nathan Sadasivan. So in this part of the book, Jacques and Godfrey have just gone on a mission on behalf of the Templars to conclude some diplomatic relations with Andronicus Comnenus. Which is bad for Godfrey, because he has all the political savvy of a frozen vegetable.

And Jacques isn't much better.

This is from the scene where Godfrey is stuck in a very awkward situation. Andronicus put both of the Templars on either side of him, with Godfrey on the right, and Jacques on the left. And on Godfrey's right is the beautiful Lady Phillipa, sister of Prince Bohemond III. So the poor celibate monk knight has an awkward time ahead of him, especially with the shameless Andronicus flirting with her right across him.

And Bohemond isn't too happy with the flirtatious Byzantine either. Stuck between some potetially scandoulous political disasters and boredom, our beleaguered Templar has little else to do for several hours, so Godfrey gets eh...slightly tipsy.

And it looks like Jacques might have had a bit too much too....

I was sorely tempted to use these for Bohemond though:

Hahahah, I just love Godfrey's awkward expression. He's trying so hard to keep his eyes fixed firmly ahead, so much so that he's spilling the wine (the goblet is full Godfrey).

Though I have to say, Jacques might be my favorite.

Is this book a new release or has it actually been around? The way you describe it here really makes me wanna read it (especially this scene

It wasn't a very amusing time for Godfrey though, I'm sure.

Hmmm...let me think....I *think* it's been out for more than a year or so...let me check. Yeah, it was released June 15th, 2009. They sell it on Amazon.com, that's where I got it anyway.

All of their expressions are perfect, I'll never understand how you manage to get your sketches so detailed! Lady Phillipa is lovely, especially her hair. Wonderful job altogether!
