"Drinking Buddies" October 27th, 2010 Pencil and pen
Heheheh, Andronicus and Godfrey are drinking buddies.
This is a scene closely following the feast in Antioch where Godfrey is internalizing: "Well, this is awkward." Anyways, after the feast, Andronicus Comnenus invites our slightly tispy Templar (he did get a dispensation. ) to accompany him out on a night on the town. And since Godfrey and Andoncius are a bit more then, erm slightly drunk from their festal banquet I'd imagine they may have (or at least Godfrey would have) scandalized the populace of Antioch with some uproarious singing.
Hence: this picture. Contrary to what this picture would indicate however, Godfrey is not a happy drunk. He's actually a rather morose drunk. But I wanted to draw him as a happy drunk, because happy drunks are fun to draw. Actually, in the book he didn't get quite that drunk. I think he was just rather tipsy. In any case, they were both a lot of fun to draw.
Doesn't Godfrey just look so happy?
I couldn't help but sing the "Who's Line" Irish drinking song while I was drawing this: Oooooooohhhhh.....Eye-dee-dye-dee-dye-dee-dye-dee-dye-dee-dye-dee-DYE!!!! ([link])
This reminds me of LARP. Some of us go to a LARP club as well as doing historical theatre, and have a viking guild, a french musketeers guild, and a knight templar guild. We tend to play the Templars pretty historically, however being pretty mad LARPers we added in some humour, and the two of us (Dave and me) who play the Grand Master (Dave) and his "second in command" (me), wrote a very similar incident, that isnt spoken of much, into our character backstories that isnt spoken of now in polite company, heeeeee! I need to send this to Dave...
Yay, happy drunks! That's quite a kick line they have going there! Reminds me for some reason of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" so I must fave! :clapping:

In the Holy Land, too. *tsktsk*
Certainly not the worst thing he could be doing.
