"Daethryn"
September 3rd 2007
HB-6B Pencils (I think)

This is Daethryn. She's a Dark Elf and the main character in my story. Let's see, she's 5'11 (rather tall, but most dark elves are tall and gangly sort of) black-haired, grey-eyed, with a thoughtful and melancholy disposition. (The Temperments: [link] by the wy, if you do this tell me what you get! :D ....... Here's the info behind it too: [link] )

A little background: The Dark Elven people are, for the most part, nomads and herders. They keep sheep, goats, and camels. Daethryn is about 26 or 28 (haven't decided yet) and she's a shepherdess and she lives with her family since she is not married nor is she being courted. So she helps out with wahtever needs to be done and stuff liek that. So, by most people's standards, they're poor, but very happy. Anyway, after a long line of events Daethryn finds herself in a distant land, completely and totally alone and cold in the dead of winter. She's found half-dead by Mornai, who is the son of a lord (myabe I'll put his drawing up eventually too) and his firend and they take her in and she becomes like family. Now, Mornai's father isn't like a feudal lord, he's more like a prince of the Empire (think satraps of the Persian Empire) he owns a bunch of land and is very wealthy and important and all this stuff, though he likes simplicity much more than many of the lords. (They vacationing away from the politcal intrigues of the capital to go hunting in one of their many homes) Anywho.....much later (wow this is getting LOOOng) they're at the palace and Mornai's sister Rhiana tries to convince Daethryn to dress up for a huge ball but Daehtyrn really doesn't want to because she's a simple, modest girl. Well, Rhiana finally convinces her and so this is a scene of her getting ready for this ball.

Her hair isn't done either, I was going to do something but then I decided that I just wanted to have it hang down.

I feel really painfully shy about putting up stuff about my "story" in progress up on deviant, so this is a big step for me. (whoop!) my main complaint is her hair, I was practicing drawing dark hair, but with light because when I usually draw black hair it looks flat because there's no sheen. I think I messed the hair up bad, but whatever. By the way, if you guys want to read my story, my apologies but you can't, seeing as how it isn't written and is merely a bunch of ideas floating in my head. I'm lazy. So blame me. :aww:

I also have another picture coming up that I'm very happy about, (not from my story) but I'm still deciding when to put that up. You guys have probably noticed that I put up pictures on certain days (like "Our Lady of Sorrows" on the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, September 15th.) So...I think I'm going to put this one up on November 25th, the last Sunday of November. You guys can find out what that day is if you want a little preview or hint as to what the picture is of. Yes it's already done, I just need an appropriate time to put it up.

By the way.....does anyone think she looks pretty? On a spectrum (I want to know whether or not I draw beautiful people, because well, it's good to know that my people aren't ugly. :D )

1- Drop dead gorgeous
2- Pretty
3- So-so, not ugly, not really pretty
4- Plain ugly
5- You'd trun to stone if you saw her in real life.

Ooh, I love her face! She is definitely beautiful. The only thing I would say is that her cheekbones make her look just a liiittle masculine. The shadow on her cheek could stand to be a lot shorter and lighter. Of course, elves have to have high cheekbones, but since females tend to have more subcutaneous fat than males do, their cheeks are softer and less sunken. That's the only way you could possibly make her more gorgeous than she already is. :)

I love the backstory! It's a little hard to believe she's not being courted, though. ;P
Yeah, I have millions of stories up in my noodle. I know what you mean about being too lazy to put it on paper. And it's also hard to turn a story from a bunch of ideas into concrete words on paper without losing some of it. I gotta say you're doing a wonderful job of putting visuals for it on paper, though! I look forward to seeing and reading more.

P.S. I see you've befriended my brother, ~Stealthysilence! Great cartoonist, isn't he? :XD:
